Occupational therapy for autism, ADHD and child development

Reviewed by Dr. Satish, occupational therapist & physiotherapistUpdated 5 min read

Occupational therapy helps children with the everyday skills that let them play, learn and look after themselves — holding a pencil, getting dressed, coping with noise and textures, sitting through a class. Dr. Satish is an occupational therapist as well as a physiotherapist, so movement, coordination and daily skills are worked on together.

Signs your child might benefit

You don’t need a diagnosis to start. Many of the children we see have autism, ADHD, developmental delay, cerebral palsy or coordination difficulties — and some simply need help catching up.

What sessions look like

Sessions are play-based, so they usually feel like fun to your child. Behind the play is a plan: activities chosen to build hand strength, balance, body awareness, attention and self-regulation, step by step.

Parents are part of it

You’ll be in the room, and you’ll leave each session with one or two simple things to try at home. With your permission, we can share strategies with your child’s school.

A note on expectations. Occupational therapy doesn’t “cure” autism or ADHD, and it doesn’t try to change who your child is. It builds skills and confidence so everyday life gets easier — for your child and for your family.

Clinic or home

Children often show us more in their own space. Sessions are available at our Patna and Gurgaon clinics and at home, Mon–Sat.

Your first visit

  1. Message or call us. Tell us what’s going on and whether you’d like the Patna clinic, the Gurgaon clinic or a home visit. We’ll find a time and tell you the fee upfront.
  2. A proper assessment. Dr. Satish talks with you about your child’s development and daily routines, then watches them play and move, and explains what’s going on in plain language.
  3. Treatment usually starts that day. Hands-on work, exercise or both, depending on what the assessment shows.
  4. A plan you can follow. You leave with a few exercises for home, a realistic timeline and an idea of how many sessions to expect.

Bring along any reports from your paediatrician or school, a favourite toy, and clothes your child can move in.

Fees depend on the treatment and on whether it’s at the clinic or at home. Ask on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you before you book — no surprises.
